(Winnipeg–July 24, 2015) Everything is awesome! The new LEGO store greeted big and little kids alike today at its signature grand opening event in Polo Park. Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman kicked off the festivities with a nod to the Master Builders and suggestion that maybe our own Canadian Human Rights Museum was ripe for a its own LEGO replica.
The store is the 88th LEGO store to open worldwide and they show no sign of slowing down. All weekend long, LEGO enthusiasts are encouraged to come to centre court in Polo Park and help complete an eight-foot Yoda constructed with LEGO.
Master builder Paul Chrzan showed off the actual Emmet figure from the LEGO movie. Chrzan who began his career as a French pastry chef answered a LEGO ad in a paper more than 20 years ago, and the rest is history. “I was able to envision what we could create in 3-D using my past chef experience.”
Judging by the future city planners and engineers taking in today’s grand opening, Winnipeg kids are about to get some great experience in building and constructing their own dreams and 2D ideas into reality with this new LEGO store.
