Did you brave the chill on Wednesday to catch some of the #WPGwhiteout fever? Well, the fever hits again on Friday, April 13 with an expansion of the street party venue southward on Donald Street, one block further to St. Mary Avenue.
This expansion will include an alcohol-free zone at Millennium Library Park, where young families can watch the game live in a more relaxed setting. Cityplace is also located in this zone and will be hosting a live remote with 94.3 The Drive with tons of prizes from Cityplace merchants and the Cash Cow making an appearance. With a food court featuring Za Pizza Bistro, Peg City Poutinerie and the fan favourites of McDonalds and Tim Hortons there is something for everyone. Cityplace also boasts the newest Freshii on the main floor along with Boston Pizza and Bodegoes.
“Our first event exceeded our expectations,” said Dayna Spiring, President and CEO of Economic Development Winnipeg. “After the success of Wednesday night’s Street Party, we wanted to build on that momentum. Winnipeg showed well. This expanded space means we can welcome even more people of all ages.”
And for your viewing pleasure one screen will be available on Donald, south of Graham, and an additional screen will be set up in the Millennium Library park, bringing the total number of viewing screens at the #WPGwhiteout Street Party to four. The library park area is intended for family viewing and will be an alcohol-free area.
Organizers say the first Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party saw over 5,000 Winnipeg Jets fans come together on Donald Street, nearly filling the capacity of the original venue. With this second event being on a Friday, we expect capacity will double and the Jets fever is just getting started.
So bundle up the kids, and have a great time in our beautiful downtown Winnipeg celebrating our NHL Jets in the playoffs. For the most up-to-date information on the Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party, following Economic Development Winnipeg on Twitter @EDWinnipeg.
Game Two of the Jets-Wild series takes place tonight, Friday, April 13. Cityplace will have 94.3 The Drive live on-site from 2pm to 6pm to get the party started inside. The Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party gets started at 4:30pm and continues for an hour after the end of the game. Puck drops at Bell MTS Centre at 6:30pm. Wherever you are, enjoy the #WPGwhiteout festivities and let’s cheer on our Jets!
